Calculate grade and angle from rise and run.
Last updated: June 2026 | By Patchworkr Team
Rise is required.
Slope percentage, also called grade, is the slope expressed as a percentage. It is rise divided by run, multiplied by 100.
For a rise of 15 and a run of 100, the grade is 15% and the angle is about 8.53°.
Can run be zero?
No. That would make the slope undefined.
Can grade be negative?
Yes. Negative rise gives negative grade.
Does blank input count as zero?
No. Blank input is treated as missing, not zero.
What does 100% grade mean?
It means rise equals run, so the slope is 1.
