Calculate the rotational inertia for common geometric shapes.
Last updated: March 2026 | By ForgeCalc Engineering
Moment of inertia is a property of a body that resists rotational acceleration. It is the rotational equivalent of mass for linear motion.
The value depends not just on the mass of the object, but on how that mass is distributed relative to the axis of rotation. Mass further from the axis increases the moment of inertia significantly.
