Understanding Mohr's Circle

Mohr's circle is a graphical representation of the state of stress at a point. It allows for the determination of principal stresses, maximum shear stress, and stresses on any arbitrary plane.

σ1,2 = (σx + σy)/2 ± √[((σx - σy)/2)² + τxy²]

The center of the circle is at (σavg, 0) and the radius is equal to τmax.
